Regional meetings are scheduled twice per year (in addition to local dinner meetings).
The fall meeting is also our Annual General Meeting where motions can be moved to request a change to the regional bylaws. Any changes to regional bylaws require Council approval. If you are interested in bringing forward a motion to request to amend a regional bylaw, please contact your Regional Council Member Rachel Kimler at rachelkimler@bcnu.org in writing at least 2 weeks prior to the meeting, to discuss the process. Proposed amendments need to be shared with the registrants ahead of time and require a two-thirds majority to pass. Any motion passed at the regional AGM would then be submitted to Council for assessment and/or approval. Council is not obligated to approve any regional requests to amend the regional bylaws.
The general purpose of the meetings is to inform the membership of Union activities (locally, provincially and federally) and to get input from members. This is an opportunity for you to help shape and influence the direction and decisions of the Union. The feedback is taken back to Council meetings which are held in Vancouver. The Regional Council Member representing the Pacific Rim Region attends these meetings and is "your voice".
This event is salary replaced.
Members must first register and receive confirmation of acceptance to the event before submitting a union leave request to the Regional Council Member.
Please also note the venue and hotel. The meeting location will affect your travel distance. It may also impact whether or not you qualify for a hotel room. Please double-check your travel distance before booking a hotel room.
The hotel has not yet been confirmed, but is usually within 5 km of the meeting venue.
Parking is free at the meeting location. Carpooling is encouraged.
